Doom and gloom seem to be circling overhead - poor old Gordon is almost inevitably for the high jump and the financial markets have imploded.
I am in two minds about Gordon. I think that if he remains in power the Labour Party are facing a melt down, but if he goes the winner of the leadership election will surely have call a general election sooner rather than later (democracy and all that jazz), and with a backdrop of financial chaos and belt tightening any new leader is likely to be staring defeat in the face anyway.
I guess that the Labour party could dump Gordon, vote in some muppet that they deem expendable, dump him after the next election and actually go through a proper leadership battle thereafter, electing someone that might be a potential vote winner after the Tories have crumbled. But do you know what, sticking with Gordon actually seems a bit less messy doesn't it?
And as for the banks? Well, that's what you risk when you de-regulate them I expect. And if you're wondering which set a blithering idiots did that - it wasn't the current bunch, it was Margaret and her minions ... as usual.
We have had a rotten summer - especially here in the North West, and I've been wondering as I stare out on my rain sodden, rotting garden, whether we might have been more upbeat about politics, the Universe and everything if it hadn't rained all the sodding summer?
